ExVoto is an interactive sculpture which conceptualizes the Japanese temple tradition which allows communicants to tie prayers to various scaffolding on site. During "The Japan Craze" exhibition at the Newport Art Museum, visitors could write a personal note on joss paper, fold the note and place it in the gap between the two pieces of glass on the interior of the stone stela. At the end of each day the papers would be burned in the fire box.
